When My Daughters Asked for a New Wreath for Their Bedroom Door
There are moments as a parent when the smallest requests turn into the most heartwarming projects — and this week, mine came when my daughters asked if they could have a new wreath for their bedroom door.
After thinking about the request, I realized, wreaths aren’t just for front doors — they’re a way to express personality, style, and a sense of welcome. My girls wanted their spaces to feel uniquely theirs, and to celebrate each holiday like the rest of our home.
We spent an afternoon scrolling through ideas and visiting our local Michaels store to shop for ribbon options. Each of my daughters gravitated toward something different. Then we finally landed on a theme, Hello Kitty and the other Sanrio friends.
Instead of buying a pre-made option, we decided to turn it into a craft day. We gathered supplies from the craft store — styrofoam wreath base, ribbons, and glue guns. Our dining table quickly turned into a joyful mess of glitter and laughter. There’s something magical about creating together — no screens, no distractions, just creativity and conversation. I knew I could really bring the wreath to life using my laminating machine. I was able to cut out the adorable characters on card stock and then carefully pass them through the machine. This gives them more durability and protection, which is especially important after all of the love and care we were putting in to make this masterpiece after-all. I have included the link for the machine that I used to craft this project.
When the wreath was finished, we hung it proudly on their bedroom door. Suddenly, their room felt even more like their own cozy haven that was riddled with holiday festivity.
That wreath isn't just a decoration; it's a reminder of a simple afternoon filled with imagination, giggles, and the beautiful joy of growing up. I can't wait to make the one for the next holiday!
